Born and raised in Reykjavik, Iceland. Started my career in the Entertainment Lighting industry 1994 as lighting designer and stage lighting programmer. Received my B.Sc. in Electronics 2001 and M.Sc. in Information Technology in 2004. Became a software developer pioneering the early days of media streaming and networked content delivery at KiSS Technology and Cisco Systems.
Co-founded GreenWave Reality in 2009 where I invented the first Smart LED Light bulb that paved the way for new products including Philips Hue and others fast followers (Signify, aka. Philips Lighting, eventually acquired over 20 of my patents from GreenWave in 2018). After growing GreenWave from 4 to 250 employees in 2014 I started an IoT incubator in California for Austria based Tridonic & Zumtobel Group to drive digital transformation and spearhead a new IoT platform for lighting. In 2019 I became the buisness lead for Smart Home and Lighting at Belkin International (a Foxconn Company) to transform the legacy Wemo brand to a new world of native integrations under the Matter protocol.
I've been an influencer of several standards bodies including TCLA, ZigBee, Z-Wave, DLNA, IPSO, Fairhair, Thread Alliance, IoT Ready Alliance and Matter under the CSA Alliance. In 2022 I joined Amatis Controls, a leader in wireless technology for commercial spaces to bring new innovations including X-PoE. Last but not least, I'm also the co-founder of Visiolite LLC that specializes in LED lights for creative designs.
